My name is Aysha and I am one half of the Malabar Tea Room. I'm the writer, photographer, technical expert (read: googler), while my mother is the chief recipe tester and owner of all the beautiful props you see on the blog. What started out as a mother-daughter project to work on while I lived away, has now turned into what I suspect may be a lifelong love for food writing and photography. Living in a small town on the Malabar coast, cooking  often involves improvisation and a keen imagination. Our philosophy is simple — whipping up culinary favourites from around the world in a small-town kitchen, using local ingredients as far as possible. This blog is a chronicle of our adventures.

When we're not tinkering about in the kitchen, snacking in the name of 'research', you'll find me working on food stories for various publications, a sample of which can be found here. If you'd like to commission me for a piece or collaborate on a project, please write to me at aysha@malabartearoom.com.
